Nova Era Bakery in Toronto

I love this neighborhood cafe.Best custard tart I've ever had.Seems better than I remember on other visits.And pricing is more reasonable than chain cafes.Plus the food is baked on the premises, fresh. And you can't beat the urban vibe, with the view along Bloor Street.

Really tasty Pastel De Natas, but the location is super sketch.

I fell in love with this quaint Portuguese bakery the moment my lips touched their Portuguese tart... This place can easily pass off for a mom and pop store... no one will think it’s a chain with branches all over. Must try their rum balls- my new love. Would I go back here? 110%. Oh and their sandwiches are fab too!

Nice cafe with a good selection of baked goods and reasonable amount of seating. Tried their Portuguese natas which were pretty cheap and quite nice.

I really like this bakery. There's a variety of pastries and they are all delicious. They also make some super sandwiches. One can order some coffee, sit down and enjoy some tasty baked goods like cookies, cakes, pies and others. The bread is also fantastic. The one point they need to improve is service. The service is slow, the staff don't acknowledge clients and you will wait unnecessarily. Otherwise, I love this shop.

The staff are very handsome and I had 1 slice of cake but the sizes are very big so its like 2 slice I love this place

This spot has great pastries, bread and coffee! The service was good, the guy working behind the counter saw my hands were full and walked the coffee and pastry over to my table for me. One thing I will say, is the interior could use with a bit of a face-lift. Other than that, great place for coffee and snacks!

I stopped in for a quick snack today and was very impressed! The beef pastry was really good, and so was the cheese croissant. The gal who assisted me was very nice, too. Quite a pleasant experience.

Amazing coffee shop and really great pastries and puff. Breads are really nice and fresh. Best bakery just across the street. Love it..

Service has been hit or miss the few years. There is a guy now working at the front, he is excellent. Great customer service from him. Always very friendly! Some of the younger women counter attendants who I come across are a little dry or rude sometimes. But, it won’t stop me from coming back... for the food. Not the coffee.

Good breakfast sandwich. Have delicious pastries and ham and cheese when it's fresh. Good table service.

Great service, coffee and pastry :)

The food is great, coffee is nice, prices are good. However there is a skinny guy working in the front who has a horrible attitude, cursing to himself, sighing loudly anytime you speak to him. I sat at an empty table (no one will seat you here, that's fine) and began cleaning it a little, it just had one empty coffee there. He approached me and angrily asked me "Will you allow me to do my JOB?" I think he should quit or be fired immediately he hates himself and it's leaking all over a nice cafe ruining the ambience and vibe.

Very friendly staff and fresh products. The Brazilian people that lives in Toronto would be delited to know that it is possible to find "sonho" in there, a very popular dessert but with another Portuguese name.

Absolutely delicious food. Amazing Selection , Amazing Service and Highly recommended.

Absolutely delicious bakery, you simply must visit for some tasty treats! I can highly recommend the little Portuguese tarts, they even have a Nutella one that is a must try of you like chocolate. All the other items look amazing too, they also do coffee, toasties, sandwiches, rolls, loaves of bread and much much more.

First and only time I stopped in for a quick cup of tea. The staff behind the counter were so incredibly rude to the customer in front of me; rolling their eyes at him and even throwing his change on the counter when his hand was extended for it. They acted as though he was such an inconvenience to him. Finally I had to interrupt and ask why they were being so rude to a paying customer and the response was because the staff member was "having a bad day". No excuse. Especially since the customer was being very polite and kind.

The custard tart was delicious! as well as the small breakfast sandwich only 3$ 😀
